Moving Out

If you have a booking in the spring, you can leave your things in your room during winter break. But unless you live in a hall that's open during winter break, and you signed up for winter break housing, plan to leave your room within 24 hours of your last final. The halls close on Sunday, December 17, 2017 at 10 a.m.

Got everything? Take all of your necessary stuff home with you! Staff will not be available to let you back into your room if you forget something during the break. Complete the checklist below prior to your check out appointment with your Community Advisor.

Changing rooms or not coming back?

If you are changing rooms, graduating, or not returning to the halls, make a check out appointment with Community Advisor. If you do not check out properly you will be charged a $50 improper check out fee.

If you are not attending the university or graduating after winter break you must complete a contract release request.

Special Hours and Closings

Quiet Hours: 24-hour quiet hours start Thursday, December 7, 2017 at 9 p.m. NO noise should be heard outside of your room! There will be no warnings. You will be documented on your first violation during quiet hours. If you are documented for a policy violation during finals week you may be required to leave the residence halls immediately or after your last final depending on the situation.

Front desks will be open until 10 a.m. Sunday, December 17, 2017.

Area offices in each hall will be open Saturday, December 16, 2017 from 10 a.m. - 3 p.m and Sunday, December 17, 2017 from 9 a.m. - 1 p.m.

Special dining hours: Dining halls have special hours during finals week. See full dining hall hours.

Trash and Cleaning

  • Remove all trash from the room: Small items may be thrown away in the trash room on your floor.
  • Sweep/vacuum your floor. When cleaning your room, do not push all the debris into the hallway; you are responsible for the area around your room. If there is an excessive amount of trash on your floor the CA may not be able to do any check-outs until the floor is cleaned.
  • Donate before throwing away! Any items in a reasonable shape to can go to Goodwill. Donation bins are in every residence hall's lobby.
More info is on flyers on each floor's bulletin board.

Housing will assess charges for missing parts, damaged or dirty units, freezers not defrosted, and other problems not caused by normal operation.
