Northern View Community

Northern View Community is NIU's on-campus apartment alternative to traditional residence hall living for our upper class, non-traditional population and students with families. Five apartment buildings, a spacious courtyard, and a Community Center with 24-hour access provide students with the opportunity to enjoy the comforts of individual apartments with the convenience of on-campus staff and resources. Conveniently located on NIU's Huskie Bus Line, residents are able to easily take the bus to class, library, and other areas of campus or the DeKalb Community. Residents enjoy being close to class and building community with other students/families while avoiding the everyday hustle and bustle or busy traffic.

Students who are at least 20 years old or two full years post high school graduation can live in Traditional Apartments at Northern View Community. Students with dependents, spouses, or partners can live in the Family-Style Apartments.
