You will register for spring semester classes in November and for summer and fall classes in April. Several weeks in advance, you will be assigned a specific day to register, called an enrollment date. You can register on or after your enrollment date and time; however, the earlier you register, the more likely you are to get the classes you need.

Enrollment dates and times are assigned based on the number of credit hours you have. This includes in-progress hours at NIU and completed transfer and proficiency hours. You can find your scheduled enrollment date and time in MyNIU in early October and late February to early March.

Please note:

• Students new to NIU must attend orientation and meet with an advisor before they can register.
• Visiting students can register during open enrollment, which begins after the last assigned enrollment date.
• Remember that you may register on or after your scheduled enrollment date.
