Why Do We Ask About Gender to Determine Room Availability?
On campus, students can select only rooms or suites where the other occupants at the time identify as the same gender. While each individual room or suite has this requirement, not all students living across an entire floor (or New Hall cluster) may have the same gender identity.
We designate some spaces as only available to a specific gender before room selection even begins. We also leave many spaces available to anyone who signs up first. In that case, the person that signs up first determines the gender requirement for the rest of the students staying in that room or suite.
When you log into the MyHousing portal to select a room, you'll only see rooms available to you according to your academic status, gender or other requirements.
When you're looking up room availability on our website, you'll be able to choose between viewing all rooms, or rooms available to a specific gender.
