Sean Tikkun Accepts Faculty Position

Former PEN Lab member and educational psychology doctoral student Sean Tikkun has accepted a position as assistant professor of Curriculum and Instruction at North Carolina Central University. Sean successfully defended his dissertation, “A Study of the Factors Influencing Algebraic Problem Solving by Individuals with Visual Impairments,” in March. Congratulations, Sean!

The Center for the Interdisciplinary Study of Language and Literacy has announced that PEN Lab member and Educational Psychology doctoral student Iwona Lech is the recipient of this year’s prestigious CISLL Outstanding Student Scholar Award. Congratulations, Iwona!

Rebecca Treiman Visits PEN Lab

The PEN Lab was honored to welcome Dr. Rebecca Treiman to NIU. Dr. Treiman, the Burke and Elizabeth High Baker professor of Child Developmental Psychology at Washington University in St. Louis, delivered a talk entitled “Spelling and Learning to Spell” to a packed crowd in the Sky Room of the Holmes Student Center. The event was jointly sponsored by the Division of Research and Innovation Partnerships and the Center for the Interdisciplinary Study of Language and Literacy.
