NIU has a Remote Work Policy because the university recognizes that, where feasible and appropriate, offering the option to work off-site can benefit individual employees and the university.

Be present and communicative during your scheduled work hours and attend required on-site meetings.
Follow your approved remote work schedule and record your hours with the usual time-keeping system.
Consult your supervisor about equipment needs. If appropriate, you may be able to supply your own.
Protect confidential/sensitive information you create or receive off site, whether digital or physical.
Maintain a safe work environment. NIU’s workers’ compensation policy applies to remote work.
