Ian Letts (instructor, counselor) is a senior at NIU majoring in both jazz performance and music education. He has studied with Doug Stone, Steve Duke, and Rich Moore. Though primarily an alto saxophonist, he has performance experience on all four saxophones, as well as flute and clarinet. He has performed with many small groups, including his own sextet, which he has directed for three years and is in the process of finishing its first album. In addition, Ian has performed with the NIU Jazz Ensemble for two years, playing both the lead and 2nd alto chairs. Ian teaches private lessons and performs freelance both with his group and others around the Chicago area. He was on the staff of the NIU Jazz Camp in 2012.
