The NIU student conduct process is designed as an educational opportunity and is not a substitute for criminal or civil law processes. It’s built on the principles of due process and fundamental fairness, as defined by controlling case law and federal and state regulations.
Students in the conduct process are entitled to have an advisor. The advisor may not participate in the conduct process on behalf of the student but may confer with them and offer advice. Advisors may also ask questions about the procedure.
