Engineering Accelerator at NIU CEET

Launch your engineering journey with confidence.

The Engineering Accelerator is a free, immersive experience designed to help incoming freshmen engineering majors build a strong academic, social and personal foundation—before their first college class even begins. It's for students who have not successfully completed Calculus I prior to enrolling at NIU—the Accelerator helps position them for success in that and other math classes at NIU.

Why Join the Engineering Accelerator?

Transitioning from high school to a college-level engineering program is a big leap. The Accelerator bridges that gap by:

  • Strengthening math and academic skills critical for engineering success
  • Building confidence in a supportive, hands-on learning environment
  • Introducing students to CEET faculty, labs, and campus resources
  • Creating connections with peers, advisors and mentors

This program is especially valuable for first-generation college students, but it's open to all incoming freshmen engineering majors who have not completed Calculus I and are looking to hit the ground running.
