Please make sure you select the semester you wish to begin classes on your application. We are unable to switch the semester for applications and/or decisions. You will need to submit a new application if your enrollment semester changes. (For example: To start in August, you would apply for Fall)
Please Note: If you have applied already and need to make any changes to that application (major change, address change, pay application fee, etc.) please contact the Office of Undergraduate Admissions at (815)-753-0446 or firstname.lastname@example.org. There is no need to submit another application for these situations.
NIU provides information regarding campus security, personal and fire safety, including topics such as: crime prevention, emergency response procedures and crime reporting policies, in addition to crime and fire statistics for the most recent three calendar years. The Annual Security Report containing security and safety information is available at www.safety.niu.edu or by contacting the University Police and Public Safety Department at 815-753-9628 to receive a hard copy. The Annual Fire Safety Report is available at www.firesafety.niu.edu or by contacting the Environmental Health & Safety Department at 815-753-0404 to receive a hard copy.
A $40 non-refundable application fee payable will be required to process this application (Visa and MasterCard are accepted).

To be considered for an application fee waiver, you must be currently enrolled in high school and submit an NIU Application Fee Waiver Form (.pdf). You may also have a letter from your high school counselor or social worker submitted which states that you meet the criteria listed on the NIU application fee waiver form.
To qualify for a waiver of the undergraduate admission application fee, a transfer student must submit the NIU Application Fee Waiver Form (.pdf) and have an Expected Family Contribution (EFC) of $0 on his or her Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) report or be a part of a college access program (i.e. TRIO, Upward Bound, etc.) at his or her Illinois public community college.
The Change of Entry Term Form may be used by applicants who have already applied and want to change their term to within one year of the original application. There is no fee to process this change of entry term request. Please fill out the Change of Entry Term Form to indicate which term and any additional changes since your last application. If you applied longer than one year ago, please re-apply using the "Begin Application" link on this page.
