Why did you choose NIU?
My previous school, Anhui University of Finance and Economics, has a relationship with NIU so I had an opportunity to apply for NIU's business program- which has a good reputation for its high quality education. Also, I love to go to different countries and explore.
How many different countries have you been to?
I went to Europe with NIU's study abroad program during winter break last year. We visited London, Paris, Heidelberg, Geneva and Amsterdam through a program called the International Business Seminar. One of our accounting faculty, Dr. Chih-Chen Lee is in charge of the program and presented in one of my classes. I knew I wanted to go, NIU has provided me with a lot of opportunities.
Where do you see yourself in ten years?
I would like to be a financial analyst because I love math. I want to do something where I apply math to the real world. Finance is the subject that can combine those two things together. I would first like to get into a corporation and after I get some experience, I'd maybe like to start my own business. After graduation, I'd like to find a job here.
What would you tell other people thinking about earning a business degree from NIU?
It's a really good school and it has a fantastic business program. I started my first resume here, and with the help of career services I have a great cover letter. I've had lots of chances to practice my elevator speech and it's given me more confidence. The courses here are very applicable, even the introductory business courses gave me an idea of what working in finance would be like. In the upper level course, I have the chance to work with other analysts solving real world problems.
