Intramural Sports
Fall 2025 intramurals are on hold. We look forward to making space for all students to engage in intramurals once our new staff member is hired.
Safety is our top priority and we are committed to starting these games as soon as it is safe and sustainable to do so.
Our program emphasizes fun and competition through tournaments and leagues in a variety of sports. It’s a great opportunity to have fun, get involved, meet new people, and display your athletic abilities. Winners of each sport have the chance to earn an Intramural Championship shirt.

Signing Into IMLeagues
- Visit IMLeagues website
- Under schools choose "Northern Illinois University"
- Sign in with your Z-ID and password
- For all accounts, your password has been preset to your email prefix
Creating a Team
- Sign in to IMLeagues via your NIU email
- Choose the desired sport, league and time and "create team"
Once you complete the team registration process, you are able to invite people to join your team
Pay Your Fee
- Visit MyRec and log in with your Z-ID and password
- Select Intramurals
- Choose and register for the sport of your choosing
Check out and pay with a credit card. If you want us to charge your bursar’s account as your payment, please email intramurals@niu.edu.

Become an Official
Join our officiating team! You'll gain leadership skills and earn extra money while learning sports rules and regulations. Experience is not required, and training is provided. Hours are flexible, according to your interests and availability.
