Program Mode of Delivery

Our 100 percent online Master of Science in Digital Marketing program allows you the ability to balance work and family life while earning an advanced degree in this highly in-demand field of business.

Curriculum

The Master of Science in Digital Marketing consists of two phases. Phase One courses are designed to address deficiencies in undergraduate coursework considered to be prerequisite for Phase Two (30 credits) graduate coursework, which focuses on acquiring strategic and digital marketing knowledge and skills.

Students with significant undergraduate coursework in business may be waived from some, or all, of the Phase One requirements.

Phase Two consists of 12 courses. Five courses are required from marketing strategy foundations (15 credit hours), and six courses are required from digital marketing foundations (12-13 credits). Students must complete either a capstone project or a capstone application (3 credits). Students will conclude their program with a capstone experience, allowing for analysis and application of all they have learned.

Applying to the Program

Admission to the Master of Science in digital marketing program is competitive. In addition to the standard requirements for graduate admission to the Graduate School at NIU, the Master of Science—Digital Marketing program has additional requirements for graduate admission.

The Master of Science—Digital Marketing program requires all degree-seeking applicants to submit the following materials:
  • A resume
  • A 500-word personal statement answering the following question:
    • In the context of digital marketing, how do you envision the future of the industry, and how do you see yourself contributing to the digital marketing landscape upon completion of your MSDM degree?
  • Two letters of recommendation from individuals speaking to your ability to be successful in the completion of a graduate-level program at a large, public institution. Your recommenders should be individuals who have a professional or academic relationship with you as the applicant.
Students with insufficient relevant experience in specific business disciplines may need to complete additional Phase One courses.
