Earn experience before you graduate! To gain real-world knowledge of community leadership and civic engagement, we encourage you to participate in at least one nonprofit internship while studying at NIU. Though an internship, you'll get hands-on career experience with a nonprofit organization while you earn course credit! Internships add value to your degree and are a direct path to student career success in the public, private and non-profit sectors.

Nonprofit and NGO Studies students have participated in exciting internships directly related to their course of study. For example, Noi interned at the United Nations; Isabelle interned with PEACE Mexico; and Amanda served as a congressional intern in the U.S. House of Representatives. Contact our office or NIU Career Services to learn more about securing an internship in the field of civic engagement.
