What is Performathon?
Performathon is a scholarship fundraising event held by the NIU Community School of the Arts.
Many parents in our community are struggling financially and continue to make a great effort to keep their children involved in music and art. The community school tries to help with scholarship support, and we have awarded more than 1000 scholarships for both need and talent since 1993.
Our program offers lessons, ensembles, and classes in both music and the visual arts. It is wonderful to see the many young people whose lives are enriched by a special class, a relationship with a teacher, or the skills learned in an ensemble. Our scholarships help students to begin and continue to develop their skills for years.
This event brings the community school together for a gala day of performances, an art exhibit, a raffle, the famous music swap, a bake sale, and much more.

When is Performathon?
Performathon will next be held in April 2020, in the Boutell Memorial Concert Hall and the Concert Hall Lobby in the Music Building on NIU's main campus in DeKalb.
How can I help?
There are many ways to be a part of this event!
CSA Music Students - The main way CSA music students can participate is to be a performer in the event and gather sponsorships from friends and family. Use the form here to sign up and let us know that you are interested in being a performer! We will send you a sponsorship packet soon that will assist you in acquiring sponsors for your performance.
CSA Art Students - The main way CSA art students can participate is to have your art displayed in the Performathon Gallery the day of the event and to gather sponsorships from friends and family. Use the form here to sign up and let us know that you are interested in having your art displayed at Performathon! We will send you a sponsorship packet soon that will assist you in acquiring sponsors for your display.
Parents - Parents can assist in a variety of ways! First, you can encourage your kids to perform and to gather sponsorships! Also, we need lots of volunteers to help with the bake sale, the music swap, and other events during the day. Finally, we need parents to assist on the planning committee to make the day a success. If you would like to volunteer, please contact Kristin (firstname.lastname@example.org) in the office and let her know you are interested in volunteering, and we will be in touch!
Business Owners - Local businesses can help this great cause in a variety of ways. We sell advertising space in the Performathon program to local businesses. These ads are perfect for promoting your business to the local community and showing your support for the arts! You can also donate prize packages for our raffle or silent auction, or make a simple cash donation in any amount! Friends of the CSA - Friends of the Community School of the Arts can support this wonderful event by attending the festival on Saturday, April 22, 2017! There will be multiple ways to contribute including purchasing bake sale items, music swap goods, raffle tickets or making a donation. What happens on the day of Performathon?
The day revolves around two main musical programs starring our amazing students! There will be an 11:00 AM program and a 1:30 PM program. While the performances are going on, we also will be holding a bake sale, music swap, raffle, silent auction, and a gallery of visual art!
