Ethics Officer

Investigation and enforcement of these directives is the responsibility of the Office of the Executive Inspector General. The Northern Illinois University Ethics Officer is the University's liaison to the Executive Inspector General.

In addition to the State mandated role, the Ethics Officer provides information specific to Northern Illinois University regarding additional policies of the Board of Trustees and University Human Resource Services, where they they have been established, to assist administrators with their own understanding and the training of their employees.

What Does the Ethics Officer Do?

The Northern Illinois University Ethics Officer:

  • Provides information regarding State employees' responsibilities regarding statutorily mandated behaviors.
  • Is the local point of contact on the Northern Illinois University campuses. The Ethics Officer is the liaison to the Illinois Executive Inspector General regarding matters for which the Inspector General is charged with investigation and enforcement.
  • Responds to requests for directions and information to administrators and employees when they are unsure of their responsibilities regarding existing or anticipated actions.
