Ethics and Compliance Office

The Ethics and Compliance Office (ECO) advances NIU's mission by promoting accountability, transparency, and ethical behavior in the university's educational and workplace environment. We diligently work to accomplish this by:

• Investigating reports of unethical conduct by members of the university community.
• Guiding employees on conflicts of interest, revolving door, the gift ban, and prohibited political activity.
• Serving as a source of guidance on university policies, compliance mandates, privacy principles, and Clery Act requirements.
• Facilitating the records management program and information requests.
• Promoting the accessibility of NIU's information technology.
