What is Economics?
Economics is an interesting and rewarding field of study of how individuals, businesses and governments allocate scarce resources. Consumers and institutions wish to find the best solution for their needs. They must make do with the budgets and material they have available, but they are always striving for something better. Economics is the discipline that analyzes choices and incentives to attain the best solutions to the problems arising from the constraints imposed by limited resources.
When you major in economics, you'll study all forms of economic theory. From microeconomics and macroeconomics to currency systems and even international economics, you will have a strong foundation in all things economics to help you pursue your occupation.
While you won’t focus on the specifics for running a business, certain elements of economics may touch on that subject. In general you will study economic systems at different levels giving you a greater breadth of career options than would a business major.
