ba-theatre-studies

The Bachelor of Arts in Theatre Studies program at NIU’s School of Theatre and Dance offers a broad-based curriculum focused on developing the total theatre artist. Our majors are trained in all aspects of theatre, including acting, directing, playwriting, design and technology, theatre management, dramaturgy, and criticism. We cultivate a wide variety of theatrical experiences, helping young practitioners to discover their true passions and talents.

Our theatre studies degree prepares future leaders for the radically changing landscape of the entertainment industry by anticipating new and interdisciplinary technologies as well as addressing social justice issues, finding new and exciting ways to achieve equitable representation for all. As artist-scholars, students will learn to harness their creativity, collaboration, and critical thinking skills while preparing for diverse careers in the theatre and entertainment industries, advanced academic theatre study, and beyond.

The BA degree in theatre studies is an open admission program.
