That’s why we no longer consider standardized test scores for general admission, merit scholarships or honors. We’ll look at your cumulative high school or transfer GPA.

Have a cumulative high school or transfer GPA of 3.0 or higher? You're guaranteed general admission!
If your GPA is below 3.0, we'll get to know you through a holistic application review process – a flexible, personalized review of your application and circumstances. We know your grades don't always tell the whole story.
Access to More Scholarships
The greatest reward for your strong academic record is a scholarship. When you apply to NIU, we'll automatically consider you for merit scholarships based on your cumulative high school or transfer GPA alone.
