Leadership Week

This fall, SILD is implementing our second annual Leadership Week! Leadership Week will take place from Monday, November 7 through Saturday, November 12, 2016. A variety of leadership events will occur throughout the week, concluding with the NIU Lead Summit. This week is your opportunity to learn leadership skills, meet other students interested in building their leadership skills, and have some fun! We will also recognize the student(s) who have attended the most Leadership Week events during the NIU LEAD Summit!

Monday, November 7th
Leadership 101 Workshop
10-11 a.m.
Campus Life Building, room 100

During this workshop, participants will be able to better understand their personal leadership style, traits of effective leaders, and will participate in leadership activities.

Tuesday, November 8th
Election Day Watch Party (Sponsored by the Student Association)
Time: 7 p.m.
Huskies Den, Holmes Student Center

Wednesday, November 9th
Leadership Academy Workshop
Marketing Your Leadership Skills
12-1 p.m. & 3-4 p.m.
Campus Life Building, room 100

During this workshop, participants will learn how to best market their leadership skills.

Thursday, November 10th
Grassroots Leadership: Promoting Change in the Social Media Age
6 p.m.
Carl Sandburg Auditorium, Holmes Student Center

Payton Head is a recent graduate of the University of Missouri where he studied Political Science and Black Studies. Payton served as President of the Missouri Students Association, the undergraduate student government at Mizzou, representing nearly 28,000 students from around the state, nation and over 120 different countries globally. In the aftermath of the Ferguson protests, he has been at the forefront of conversations about improving race relations on campuses, working to create institutional change.

Feed My Starving Children Service Event
3-5 p.m.
The Suter Company 1015 West Bethany Road, Sycamore

Celebrate Leadership Week by investing in those in need and in your growth as a leader! On Friday, November 11 from 3:00-5:00pm, join us for Leadership Week’s day of service at the Feed My Starving Children MobilePack event in Sycamore. We need 20 volunteers to help pack meals that will be distributed to starving children in nearly 70 countries around the world. Interested in volunteering?
