“I am extremely happy to have been a part of the Admissions department the last two years. My graduate assistantship in Admissions has provided me with many great opportunities. My favorite part of working with large campus tour groups is the diverse student populations that I interact with every single day as they decide to embark on their journey to college. My other favorite part is that this position has allowed me to collaborate with offices from across the campus. I have met many wonderful individuals and it helped me gain a better understanding of how to further meet students’ needs. Lastly, I was able to participate in some of the workshops provided by the GA Experience and I highly recommend future graduate assistants utilize these resources. These have helped me develop my professional development skills that I was able to apply not only in my GA but also to carry with me in future jobs!”

“My assistantship as a Graduate Residence Hall Director has been everything I could have asked for personally and professionally. Coming from out of state, I was a little nervous about leaving what I knew behind and coming into an incredibly different campus environment. However, when I began fall training, I found that I became part of the family! One of my favorite parts about working for Housing & Dining is the incredibly close relationships I have with my professional coworkers and my student staff. My coworkers and staff are some of the hardest working people I know and I am inspired by their positivity and willingness to help students succeed. The Residential Communities team also values graduates to gain skills and competencies beyond their assistantships. In addition to my role as a Hall Director where I directly supervise student staff, I have had the opportunity to advise student organizations, sit on various committees, and use my research and skills in the classroom to contribute back to the residential communities. Overall, working in Housing & Dining, along with the Division of Student Affairs & Enrollment Management, has been an incredible experience. “
