A Brief History

Ernest Hanson (1941-1971)

Ernest E. Hanson received his Bachelor’s Degree from Northern Illinois State Normal School, his Master’s Degree from the University of Minnesota, and his doctorate from Michigan State University.

Harry Husa (1971-1973)

Harry Husa received his Bachelor’s Degree from Northern Illinois University and his Master's Degree from Northwestern University. Dr. Husa earned his doctorate from Michigan State University, and did post-doctoral work at the University of Chicago.

Harry J. Canon (1973-1983)          

Harry J. Canon received his Bachelor of Arts Degree from Lycoming College, Williamsburg, Pennsylvania, and his Master of Science Degree from Pennsylvania State University. Dr. Canon earned his doctorate from the University of Nebraska.

Margaret Barr (1983-1985)         

Margaret Barr received her Bachelor of Arts Degree from State University of New York, and Master’s Degree in College Student Personnel from Southern Illinois University. Dr. Barr earned a doctorate in Higher Education Administration from the University of Texas-Austin.

Jon Dalton (1985-1989)                

Jon Dalton received his Bachelor’s Degree in Philosophy from Franklin College, Franklin, Indiana. He earned Master’s Degrees in Religion and Philosophy from Yale University, and Student Personnel from the University of Kentucky. Dr. Dalton also obtained his doctorate in Higher Education from the University of Kentucky.

Barbara Henley (1989-1996)         

Barbara Henley received her Bachelor’s Degree in History and Teacher Education from the University of Illinois at Chicago. Dr. Henley earned her Master’s and doctorate from The Ohio State University.

Donald R. Buckner (1996-1998)    

Donald R. Buckner received his Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry from Cornell University, New York, and a Master’s Degree in industrial management from the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, New York. He received a second Master’s Degree in Guidance and Counseling from the University of Missouri. Dr. Buckner obtained a doctorate in Student Affairs & Enrollment Management Administration from the American University at Washington, D.C.

Gary Gresholdt (1998-2004)          

Gary Gresholdt earned his Bachelor’s Degree and a Master’s Degree in Counseling from the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh. Dr. Gresholdt received his doctorate in Adult Continuing Education from Northern Illinois University.

Brian O. Hemphill (2004-2012)

Brian O. Hemphill earned his Bachelor of Arts Degree from St. Augustine College, Raleigh, North Carolina, and his Master’s Degree in Journalism and Mass Communication from Iowa State University of Science and Technology in Ames. Dr. Hemphill obtained his doctorate in Higher Education Administration from the University of Iowa.

Kelly Wesener Michael (2012-2013)

Kelly Wesener Michael earned her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Communication from the University of Wisconsin - Stevens Point, and her Master of Science Degree in College Student Personnel from Western Illinois University.  Dr. Wesener Michael was awarded her Doctorate of Education in Higher Education Administration from Indiana University.

Eric A. Weldy (2013-Present) 

Eric A. Weldy received his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Art from Eureka College, Eureka, Illinois, and his Master of Science Degree from Illinois State University.  Dr. Weldy earned his Doctor of Education Degree in Higher Education Administration from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
