STEM Saturday classes help students explore interesting topics through hands-on activities and exciting demonstrations. Parents are encouraged to attend students' classes and get in on the fun. This season’s offerings include Lego Robotics, circuit building, computer programming, and STEM activities for young divas.

We’ll use LEGO EV3 robots to complete a series of training missions that familiarize students with the robots’ operations, capabilities, and programming environment. Students who want to take the LEGO EV3 Space Challenge should attend this class unless they have experience with these kits.

Arduinos are tiny computers you can program to control everything from flashing lights to satellites. Learn the basics of circuits, functions, and variables, and then control motors and sensors and plot data and graphs. You’ll even get to create an Arduino-powered gizmo! You can choose to take your two-session course in DeKalb or Naperville.

Landing humans on the surface of the red planet is a lot of work, but planning the mission with LEGO EV3 Robotics is a lot of fun! The LEGO Space Challenge will develop students' programming and problem solving skills as they work in teams to complete 6 missions over the course of 3 sessions. You can choose to take your three-session course in DeKalb or Naperville.

Brainy is beautiful! Add some sparkle to your Saturday classes by using chemistry to create lip gloss, manufacturing rings and earrings on a 3D printer, decorating hats with littleBits electronics, weaving bracelets with conductive thread, and more! Sign up for either or both classes.

The annual STEM Saturday Holiday Party is our way of saying thanks to everyone who has participated in STEM Saturdays. We'll present a winter-themed show for students and their families, and then the kids will make STEM crafts while parents learn about some of our favorite STEM-related gift ideas. This event is free for families who have a student enrolled in at least one Fall 2014 STEM Saturday class.
