Get creative with us and join STEAMspace to get involved in engaging, interdisciplinary projects.
STEAMspace encourages participants to collaborate online in community-based art and literacy projects, as well as to share and discuss their productions with one another. Activities integrate art and technology to address STEAM topics (science, technology, engineering, art, and math) and meet the Common Core State Standards (CCSS), Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS), National Educational Technology Standards (NETS), and Social Emotional Learning (SEL) standards for K-12 learners. We love showcasing exceptional student work and encouraging students to inspire one another. Let’s get creative!
While creating and sharing art online, the virtual space is designed to remove barriers to allow students to become more engaged and reflective on their own literacy skills and social-emotional development. The goal is to help students build their self-confidence in their communication, art production, writing, and multimedia skills. Learners engage in a positive environment that fosters personal and group expression, self- and social-awareness, innovation, and collaboration. STEAMspace also provides teachers and teacher candidates with online tools and resources to effectively facilitate multidisciplinary learning in a virtual setting. If you have questions about STEAMspace, contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
STEAMspace 3D World
Students in the Creative Creatures Project design their own creatures after looking at examples in literature by using Web 2.0 tools and movie production software. After designing a creature, participants describe a situation that the creature experiences and the range of emotions that the creature feels. In their media products, participants represent the challenges and steps needed to address the situation and the consequences that resulted. This project is designed to address the Illinois Social Emotional Learning Standards, Common Core State Standards, and National Educational Technology Standards.
