The eTutoring program pairs K-12 students with eTutors who deliver individualized sessions that focus on literacy skills as well as ACT prep skills. NIU teacher candidates serve as eTutors and are trained to deliver quality tutoring services using innovative technology solutions. All eTutors have had background checks before their clinical experiences, and are supervised by NIU field experts.
Tilton Elementary in Rochelle was the pilot site for the eTutoring program in the spring of 2013. The eTutors and eTutees thoroughly enjoyed working together and collaborating on story writing, comic creation, code deciphering, puzzle solving, poetry, and much more. These activities addressed literacy skills that teachers identified for the eTutees. A special thanks to Rochelle educators Mr. Doyle and Mrs. Klindera, the eTutees, and eTutors for making the program a success. The program is scheduled to be piloted again soon.
ACT Prep eTutoring is being piloted at Auburn High School in Rockford and Sycamore High School.
