Board of Directors
Officer and Regent applicants, at the time of election, must be a Faculty Sponsor of an active Sigma Tau Delta chapter. Regent applicants must be located within the region they seek to represent.
The President serves a two-year term, followed by a two-year term as Immediate Past President.
Position duties include presiding at all meetings of the Executive Committee and of the Board and at the business sessions of the international conventions. He/she appoints the Standing Committees and such committees as he/she deems desirable or necessary. The President is an ex officio member of all committees (except the Executive Committee and the Nominating Committee).
The VP/President-Elect serves a two-year term, followed by a two-year term as President, and a subsequent two-year term as Immediate Past President.
Position duties include promoting the development of the Society by attending and actively participating in Board meetings, serving on committees, presiding in the absence of the President, and assuming other duties as requested by the President.
Immediate Past President
The Immediate Past President serves a two-year term.
Position duties include serving in an advisory capacity to the Board and assuming duties at the request of the President.
The Secretary/Treasurer serves a four-year term and may be re-elected to additional terms.
Position duties include primary responsibility for accurate minutes of the Board meetings, for the financial policies of the Society, for submitting an annual financial report to the Board, and for submitting to the membership, at the annual convention, a report on Society finances.
The Historian serves a four-year term and may be re-elected to a second four-year term.
Position duties include maintaining the archives and the written continuing history of the Society and bringing to the attention of the Board such relevant matters as seem appropriate.
Regents serve a four-year term and may be re-elected to a second four-year term. There is one Regent for each of the Society's six Regions: Eastern, Far Western, High Plains, Midwestern, Southern, and Southwestern.
Position duties include promoting the development and activities of the Society within their specific regions. As members of the Board of Directors, Regents serve on standing and ad hoc committees, act as liaisons between the chapters of their regions and the Central Office, and work with their Student Representative (SR) and Associate Student Representative (ASR) to encourage chapter development and activities.
Student Advisor applicants must be Sigma Tau Delta members at a school with an active chapter and must plan on attending a school with an active chapter through the end of their elected two-year term.
