I am Miki Grace and I am Senior Political Science Major at NIU. I am proud to have the opportunity to represent and work alongside my fellow Huskies to enhance the student experience as the Director of Student Life.
Since my freshman year at Northern I have always placed a high value on student involvement. As a freshman, I immediately become involved with the Black Student Union. After doing my due diligence as a general member for two years, I took on the position of Vice President during the 2014-2015 academic year. Currently I am serving as President of the Zeta Iota chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. Along with being apart of Greek life and serving as a member of the BSU, I have also committed a lot of my time to the Student Association. Prior to being appointed to this position, I served as a student senator for three years. While my strong interest in policy and government influenced me become a member of the SA, the opportunities available to make NIU a more fulfilled inclusive campus for all students is what has keeps me here.
As the Director of Student Life I plan to revive NIU’s lost traditions and create new ones that will sustain even after my tenure. I will work to bring inclusive SA sponsored events that meet the needs of every Huskie. By working alongside my peers and on campus departments, I hope to set a foundation that provides us all with the college experience we truly deserve.
I look forward to working with all of you this year.
