My name is Chad Harris, I am a senior business management major, emphasizing studies in Leadership. I am pursuing a certificate in Criminology in order to aid in my career path for government employment. I was raised in Lake Zurich, Illinois. It was not until Northern Illinois University that I started spreading my roots into organizational leadership.
Since coming to NIU in 2011, I have sought to make the campus a better place for students. Upon appointment to the Student Association Senate as the Clerk of the Senate, I immediately sought to reform the SA and the university. My time in Senate was marked by improved policies and formalities within the legislative branch, and a renewed interest in the SA, pursuing better student services from university departments.
I have served on many NIU committees throughout my time on campus, such as University Council, University Council Steering Committee, College of Business Deans Student Advisory board, Parking appeals, and Student Association Rules and Procedures committee.
Outside of the SA, I have served as President of Alpha Epsilon Pi amongst other positions within the organization. I was awarded Brother of the Year 2013 through the fraternity, and received the award in addition to being voted on by my peers as Top Executive Board Member. In addition, I was a member on the NIU Paintball team in 2011-2012, and actively working with other Greek organizations on campus to provide the best possible experience for new members.
As Chief of Staff to President Joe Frascello, I serve as the Chief Administrative Officer of the Student Association Cabinet. This mainly involves providing oversight, direction, and management to the eleven directors that report to me. I have been tasked with leading the SA through a strategic planning initiative around the theme of campus engagement. This involves making the SA a more mission-driven organization in the areas of organizational outreach, external outreach, communications and marketing, and finance and operations.
I look forward to my term as the Chief of Staff of the Student Association and will continue to provide the insight necessary to ensure NIU remains the most student-centered university in the Midwest.
