NIU Advocacy Services
When the NIU Police receive complaints about sexual assault/harassment, domestic violence, dating violence, or stalking, we refer students to speak with the Advocacy Coordinator at Counseling & Consultation Services. They provide a number of confidential services to help.
NIU Counseling Services
If you are concerned about an NIU student who is experiencing a mental health emergency, Counseling Services is available to help. If it is after hours or on the weekend, please contact Public Safety.
NIU Health Services
If you are sick, have a non-life-threatening injury, or are in need of other medical services/advice, Health Services is available Monday through Friday for medical appointments.
NIU Student Conduct Office
Student Conduct coordinates the resolution of a variety of student conflicts.
NIU Title IX Coordinator
If you feel that you have been a victim of discrimination based on your gender, the Title IX Coordinator helps with questions and ordering an investigation.
DCFS
The Department of Children and Family Services protects children through their investigation of suspected abuse or neglect. NIU Campus Child Care and the Child Development Lab are considered mandated reporters and the NIU Department of Police and Public Safety occasionally experience investigations where DCFS is notified.
Hope Haven
Hope Haven Shelter provides food, shelter and resources to the DeKalb homeless.
Kishwaukee Hospital
Kishwaukee Hospital offers 24-hour trauma, urgent care, lab, radiology, and pharmacy services for the DeKalb community.
Safe Passage
Safe Passage is a program in DeKalb whose mission is to reduce or prevent domestic violence and sexual assault in DeKalb County. They offer medical and legal advocates to help you through abusive situations.
Youth Services Bureau
YSB provides individual, family counseling, crisis intervention and drug prevention education for youth, ages 8-18 and their families.
