MAP-Works Training

MAP-Works is a student success and retention tool that can have a positive impact on how faculty and staff connect with students who are in need of additional assistance in their transition to Northern Illinois University. Whether you are a new or returning user, it is our goal to assist you in using this successful program.

If you are interested in joining the MAP-Works program, but have some questions on implementation, or are not sure if the program would benefit you in your current position at NIU, please do not hesitate to contact our office.

We have many different training options to make sure that training is efficient and effective for our campus partners. We have training sessions for:

 

 

New Users

All faculty and staff who wish to participate in the MAP-Works program will need to be trained. Training will be an hour and fifteen minutes and will give you an overview of MAP-Works at NIU, results from the previous years, helpful tips on how to use MAP-Works to assist you in your role at NIU as well as hands on training within the system.

Returning Users

All faculty and staff who participate in the MAP-Works program will need to be trained each year. Training will be brief (45 minutes) and will give you a brief overview of MAP-Works results from the previous year as well as improvements that have been made to the system.

Continued Training

Brown bag lunches will be held through out the school year to provide you continued training in the MAP-Works program. Below are the brown bag lunch dates and topics for the 2012-2013 academic school year.

  • Tuesday, October 2nd     Illinois Room – HSC     12:00-1:00pm 
    • Identifying At-Risk Students and how to better utilize Student Success Specialists in working with them.
  • Tuesday, November 13th   Neptune Smart Classroom     12:00-1:00pm
    • Benchmarking with others on campus: how are others utilizing the software and how can we incorporate it more in our work?
  • Wednesday, February 13th  Illinois Room - HSC     12:00-1:00pm
    • Data, Data, Data: How to use MAP-Works to make data driven decisions.
