Mapworks Training

We have many different training options to make sure that training is efficient and effective for our campus partners. We have training sessions for:


New and Returning Users

All faculty and staff who wish to participate in the Mapworks program will need to be trained for the 2015-2016 year. Training will give you an overview of Mapworks at NIU, helpful tips on how to use Mapworks to assist you in your role at NIU, as well as hands on training within the system.

We are excited to announce new training opportunities for faculty and staff for the 2015-2016 academic year. There are two opportunities for training.

Online Training

Users in the Mapworks program have the opportunity to participate in an online training environment. To complete the training program, you will need to complete the following training session and follow the instructions to show your completion of the program. 

Point and Click Training

Participants who prefer to have an in-person training session with have the opportunity to attend one of the following sessions. 

  • Friday, August 14, 10:30-11:30am (Cole Hall 106)
  • Tuesday, August 18, 9:30-10:30am (Cole Hall 106)
  • Wednesday, August 19, 2:30-3:30pm (Cole Hall 106)
  • Thursday, August 20, 2:30-3:30pm (Cole Hall 106)
  • Wednesday, August 26, 12:00-1:00pm (Cole Hall 106)
  • Monday, August 31, 12:00-1:00pm (Cole Hall 106)
  • Friday, September 11, 2:30-3:30 (Cole Hall 106)

Continued Training: Food for Thought

The OSAS is proud to offer Food for Thought. Mapworks users can partake in continued training and professional development on the program.

Dates and topics for the 2015-2016 academic year are listed below:

September 17th from 12-1 p.m. (Campus Life 100)

 Case Studies: Working through real life student situations and using Mapworks.

November 3rd from 12-1 p.m. (Campus Life 100)

 How to increase student interest and participation in Mapworks

February 10th from 12-1 p.m. (Campus Life 100)
