The CFM credential sets the industry standard for ensuring knowledge and competence of practicing facility managers. It is the most respected global credential in facility management.
Review of IFMA's FM Learning System® print and online study resources available for purchase direct from IFMA www.ifma.org is strongly recommended prior to attending this workshop. The FM Learning System encompasses all of the competency areas that will be included on the CFM exam. This educational product is recommended, but not required to take the CFM exam.
The registration fee for this course includes the CFM Exam Guide, continental breakfast, lunch and break services. The CFM Exam Guide will be distributed at the class session. The NIU fee does not include the FM Learning System materials recommended (but not required) for independent advance study prior to participating in this workshop. Credit card charges will appear as NIU Outreach.
This two-day workshop is designed to assist facility professionals seeking to earn the CFM® credential with preparation for the competency-based examination. Participants in this program have the option of receiving the IFMA Facility Management Learning System course materials and online resources for advance study. These study materials are not required for exam preparation but are strongly recommended. The FMLS is designed for independent study and is a comprehensive study tool covering each of the competency areas included on the CFM exam. The CFM exam covers a broad range of facility management duties. The Exam Prep workshop will provide a high level review of the competencies covered on the exam and focuses on tools that can lead to success on the exam, techniques to perceive situations, and the importance of maintaining the right perspective.

Candidates must meet the education and experience qualifications set forth by the International Facility Management Association and successfully complete the competency-based CFM® examination to earn this credential. Application to test and exam fees must be paid directly to IFMA www.ifma.org Northern Illinois University is a licensed provider of the CFM Exam Prep Workshop but has no authority related to administration of the CFM examination. Any inquiries related to candidate eligibility and exam processes must be directed to the International Facility Management Association (IFMA) www.ifma.org
Cancellation requests received at least 14 days prior to start of class and prior to shipment of materials will be entitled to a 50% refund. No refunds issued for cancellations within 14 days of class start or after shipment of materials to registrants unless NIU Outreach initiates the cancellation. All cancellation requests must be in writing to: Outreachregistration@niu.edu or fax (815) 753-6900. NIU Outreach reserves the right to cancel courses 7-10 days in advance of the course start date if minimum enrollment requirements (6 students) are not met. In case of cancellation by NIU, participants will be notified and may transfer registration to the next session or request a refund of the fee paid less any cost of FMLS materials ($600) that have been advance shipped.
IL VETERANS AND IL NATIONAL GUARD GRANT PROGRAMS: This program is not eligible for funding under the IL Veterans and IL National Guard Grants. IVG and ING grants apply only to those programs assessing tuition and mandatory fees. NIU Outreach is licensed to deliver this program by the sponsoring professional organization. The registration fee for this program is not based on tuition and fees and includes course materials, licensing fees, catering services, and instructional costs not covered by the IVG/ING grants.
