If you are visiting on a day when the university is open you will need to use pay-parking facilities, (parking meters and parking pay stations), located throughout campus, or purchase an appropriate parking permit at Campus Parking Services. Visitor parking permits may be purchased in advance of your visit to campus.

Parking regulations are enforced from 7 a.m. - 7 p.m., Monday through Friday, when the university is open, unless otherwise posted. Pay parking is also available in the visitor pay lot on Carroll Avenue, with summer hours of 7 a.m. – 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.

The Pay Stations at the Student Recreation Center and at the intramural fields by Lot C3 both accept Visa, MasterCard, Discover, American Express, U.S. currency and coins. The pay station outside Anderson Hall accepts Visa, MasterCard and U.S. currency. None of these machines give change. Please view our parking map to see the location of our visitor pay lot, parking meters, and pay stations.

Any department hosting a guest is responsible for making prior parking arrangements with Campus Parking Services, or for informing the guest that there is a daily parking fee.

If a visitor to campus receives a ticket for “No NIU Registration”, for failing to have the proper parking permit, this particular violation can be reduced to the $5.00 “Visitor Fee” provided Campus Parking Services is contacted within 10 business days. If paying the reduced fine through our website, you must contact our office prior to making your payment at the reduced amount.
