Amy Chen is a Freshman, majoring in Business Administration. She is a Post-Traditional and International Student from China. Amy has majored in hotel management in China and has worked for four years in Beijing. As her interest in business expanded, she came to the United States to study additional English and after six months was admitted to NIU.
Her first week on campus was stressful due to adapting to a new learning environment, but her professors and classmates were more than helpful to her. The kindness she experienced at NIU made her feel welcomed and acclimated to the United States as a whole. Amy enjoys running and swimming during her free time. She also loves to draw and watch movies such as “Happiness Knocks on the Door.” One of the first attractions in the MPTSS Lounge were the quotes on one of our doors.
She shares that her favorite is from Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.,” Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.”
