NIUAA names new president to Board of Directors

DeKalb, Ill. — Northern Illinois University’s Alumni Association has announced the election of NIU graduate Francine Pepitone, class of 1974, as the new president of its board of directors.

Pepitone is vice president business development for InnerWorkings, a global provider of managed print and promotional solutions. Her experience includes 17 years in the hotel industry and 15 years as president and owner of Francine Marketing, Inc., prior to its purchase by InnerWorkings.

“It is exciting to have an alumna with Francine’s energy and commitment to her alma mater,” said Joseph Matty, executive director of the NIU Alumni Association. “Dedicated alumni are what will continue to assist NIU in solidifying its place as a first-class institution.”

Pepitone has been honored with numerous awards by the many boards and professional associations to which she dedicates her time. She received the Richard A. Daignault Award of Excellence from the Greater Midwest Chapter of the Professional Convention Management Association, of which she is a founding board member. The Association Forum of Chicagoland named her their Associate Member of the Year, and the Chicago Chapter of Meeting Professionals International named her Member of the Year and Supplier of the Year, in addition to including her in their Hall of Fame and awarding her the prestigious Kathy Osterman Industry Award.

A comprehensive public institution of higher education, NIU enrolls over 24,000 students in undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral programs. In addition to the main campus in DeKalb, Illinois, NIU has a presence in Chicago, and regional campuses in Naperville, Hoffman Estates, and Rockford. The Alumni Association is dedicated solely to advancing the mission of Northern Illinois University by developing and implementing its network of supporters, and by enhancing its reputation nationally.

Currently, the Alumni Association sponsors eight programs and hosts 150 special events yearly, attracting over 25,000 alumni, friends, and partners in support of NIU. The Alumni Association connects NIU and its 225,000 alumni with corporate partners, prospective donors, government officials and alumni affinity groups.
