Student Social Media Consultants (SSMC)
Purpose
The purpose of SSMC is to enhance the social media efforts of NIU by building the awareness to on and off campus students, faculty/staff, and alumni.
Membership
Membership in SSMC shall be open to all members of the University student body following completion and submission of a membership application. SSMC Executive Officers and Faculty Advisors will review applications and invite members. Members must maintain a GPA of 2.0 or better on a 4.0 scale. The organization will consist of 10 student members, including Executive Officers.

The Exec board will consist of a President, Vice President, Secretary/Treasurer and two Faculty/Staff Advisors.

Elections
There will be a nominations time for all individuals that meet the requirements
Eligibility:
All individuals interested in nominations must be an active member in SSMC. If an individual wants to be elected he/she must maintain a minimum 2.5 G.P.A. or better on a 4.0 scale, have a written speech, and be knowledgeable about the position desired.
Voting:
Voting will take place once per semester. Only active members may vote. Elections will be held privately for SSMC members only. The general voting process will consist of each position called one at a time and individuals will be given the opportunity to perform speeches and persuade members to vote. After which SSMC members will cast a vote on a ballot and placed in a box. Each position can only be voted for one time.
Meetings
SSMC will meet every Thursday from 5:00 – 6:00 pm in Swen Parson room B12 (The Department of Communications and Marketing office). The President will preside over each meeting and will send an agenda to each member via email 1 week prior to the meeting.
