Web Training

We began rolling out a new web training program in November 2016.

Please note, faculty do not need to participate in Level 1 training to continue to manage their personal faculty or lab web page. Training will be offered in Fall 2017 for those types of pages.

The training program will include four levels with staggered release dates:

  1. Level 1 - basic skills for all users (three phases; beginning November 2016)
  2. Level 2 - advanced skills for select Cascade users (Fall 2017)
  3. Faculty - skills needed for faculty web templates (Fall 2017)
  4. Annual refresher - annual training for all Cascade users (Spring 2018)

This comprehensive training program was created as a result of a Web Process Improvement project. The goal of the training program is to increase consistency, usability and accuracy across all NIU websites by educating users on building and maintaining websites, NIU brand standards and best practices in web accessibility and usability.

Every current Cascade user will need to complete level 1 training to maintain web access. Users who have not completed training by the close of FY17 will have their web access deactivated. If you do not have access to Cascade or if you prefer to have the Web Team update your web pages, you can request free site updates at any time using our Web Update Request Form
