Vision

The METAS mentoring program seeks to A.C.T. on behalf of all Latino and Latin American freshmen or incoming transfer students by:

• Assisting first-year freshman and transfer Latinx students with their transition to college, especially during the first six weeks of classes
• Creating a sense of belonging and community at NIU
• Transforming and encouraging the academic success and social well-being among Latinx freshmen and transfer students

Mission

The METAS mentoring program serves to provide a supportive and welcoming environment and help create a "home away from home" atmosphere for Latinx freshmen and incoming transfer students. The program assists you in your transition and adjustment to college life by providing social, cultural and academic support.
