Thank you for your interest in being part of the NIU Ally Program! We appreciate your interest in helping create an inclusive campus community for our lesbian, gay, bisexual, and/or transgender, and/or queer/questioning (LGBTQ) students, colleagues, and families.
NOTE: If you are not able to attend a Part I AND a Part II at the times offered above, please STOP here and instead complete our Ally Training Waiting List Registration to have your name placed on the waiting list to be contacted for a future training opportunity. Thank you.
To proceed with registering for the current training workshops, please complete the following form.
Prior to the training workshop, we would like to know a little bit about you. Please help us prepare for your training experience by answering the following questions.
1. Please tell us why you are interested in volunteering for the Ally Program:
2. What kind of previous knowledge do you have with LGBT identity/issues/topics (i.e. personal experiences, classes, work, training)?
3. Overall, how would you rank your current knowledge level about LGBT identity (pick one): Low (It’s all new to me, but I’m ready to learn!) Moderate (I have a friend …) High (I’ve actually read some books or taken a class …) Very High (I know so much, I am the rainbow!)
The LGBT Resource Center will make every attempt to honor your training request. Requests for Ally Training are first come, first served; seats are not guaranteed. An Ally Training Confirmation email will be sent to your NIU email address once your request is processed if a seat is available. Your confirmation will contain the location for your training workshop and is intended for your use only; please do not share the confirmation email.
Thank you for your interest in being a NIU Ally!
