Feeding America data supports the need to assist individuals living in poverty in northern Illinois where The Northern Illinois Food Bank alone serves 502,400 people each year; 48% of the households served have children under the age of 18.
Of people residing in DeKalb County, 15% are in poverty; children under 18 are 12% of that population, and 4% are age 65 or over.
