New Dining program initiatives for Fall 2015

We are excited to introduce two very exciting programs for Fall 2015: First is program titled “Net Nutrition” which will allow you to get web based nutritional information about the foods you eat or would like to eat served in the dining centers.  Second, is the introduction of the “Healthy Huskies” program in partnership with the School of Family, Consumer, and Nutrition Science .  This program will allow you to identify food combinations that when eaten together will provide a balanced caloric intake each day while still giving you the option of eating the foods you really like.  The “Healthy Huskie” program will be based on 2000 calories per day diet.

Food Allergies & Intolerances 

If you have any food allergies, food intolerances or require special menu accommodations, we will be happy to accommodate them. There is an initial step that we ask you to complete to put your accommodation in place. Please see below:

  1.    Have your physician fax the medical documentation for your accommodation to NIU’s Health Services Office at 815-753-9599. They will review your request and if approved it will be sent on to our Disability Resource Office where it will noted that you have been approved for an accommodation.  
  2.    Dining is notified that you have been approved for accommodation and then one of our Nutrition Staff will assist you in menu selection, ordering of special food items if necessary and will follow-up with you throughout the semester and school year to insure that your dietary needs are being met.
