Northern Illinois University is committed to sponsored research, teaching and other activities which are funded by sponsors outside of the University.  The Department of Grants Fiscal Administration (GFA) supports the University's faculty, staff and departments in the administration and expenditure of sponsored project awards by managing the financial interactions with sponsors and assuring compliance with Federal, State, University and Sponsoring Agency policies and procedures.

The GFA site provides information about and links to information, regulations, policies, procedures, reports and forms to help campus units with the administration of sponsored projects. Additionally, GFA is staffed with professional Grants & Contracts Administrators who are knowledgeable about Federal, State, University and private agency regulations, policies and procedures as well as the Human Resources, Procurement, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable and General Ledger systems at NIU.
