String players! Improve your musicianship and ensemble skills as you rehearse and are coached as a member of two quartets or trios. The camp begins with a sight-reading party on June 25 from 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. Camp activities during the week of July 8 - 11 include seminars on music theory, history, and rehearsal techniques. The camp is limited to 16 players.
Campers are assigned to two different ensembles. Each ensemble participates in a master class with a string professional and performs in the final day recital.

Because of the performance objectives of this camp and the interdependent nature of chamber music, 100% attendance is required at rehearsals and the sightreading party. Please check your schedules before auditioning,
Auditions: All campers are required to audition on May 13; auditions begin at 4 p.m. In order to audition, you must reserve a time and submit a registration form with the $15 non-refundable registration fee no later than noon on May 10. For the auditions, be prepared to play two contrasting pieces and a scale (as many octaves as you can do well). You will also be asked to sight-read. The camp is limited to 16 players.
Criteria for acceptance: Performance level, space in the camp, and availability of compatible group members on complementary instruments are all considerations for admission to the camp. Those who are admitted will be informed within a week of the audition and are expected to pay the balance at this time.

DUET CAMP
for ages 8 - 15
July 8 - 11, 10:00 - 11:30 a.m.

Young musicians improve their musicianship and have fun learning and rehearsing duets and rounds in small groups. Violinists, violists, cellists, bassists, flutists, and clarinetists are all invited to audition. Campers refine note reading skills, learn more about playing music with others, and gain listening and leadership skills. Participants are expected to have at least one year of playing experience on their instrument. There is a final day recital at 11 a.m. for family and friends.
