Emergency Planning

In an effort by the Division of Finance and Facilities to be prepared and coordinated in case of an Emergency, the establishment of the Emergency Planning Sub-Committee was formed. The committee consists of Professionals from various departments within the Division who have a certain level of skills and knowledge to contribute to the well being and safety of the university community and continuously stay updated with State and Federal mandates ensuring that NIU maintains at the forefront Emergency Planning. The ESHRD Director and the committee. ESHRD is responsible for keeping the Division updated with the latest State and Federal Emergency Mandates.

 

CPR:

CPR

 

Provides individuals with the knowledge and skills necessary to recognize and provide basic care for breathing, cardiac emergencies, injuries and sudden illness, including how to use and automated external defibrillator (AED) for victims of sudden  cardiac arrest, until advanced medical personnel arrive and take over.  CPR  Certification Card is issued after course completion-valid for two (2) years. ESHRD partners with Public Safety to present this class.

First Aid:

First Aid provides individuals with the knowledge of  treating cuts, bruises, burns, abrasions and some forms of poisoning until appropriate medical personnel arrive.  The class provides individuals with the basic knowledge of wrapping injuries, splinting, and utilizing a first aid kit. ESHRD partners with Public Safety to present this class.

Fire Safety:

Provides individuals in the Division of Finance and Facilities with the basic knowledge of how to utilize four (4) different kind of fire extinguishers, recognize different kind of fires and when to use and when not to use certain extinguishers.  ESHRD partners with EH&S to present this class.
