My Story:

A leadership role I have at NIU is being one of the two Northern Lights Ambassadors for the School of Visual and Performing Art. Extra Curricular activities I am involved in are First-generation Aspire to Succeed Together (FAST), Dream Action NIU, University Honors Peer Mentor Program, Honorable Mentions Student Editorial Board, Northern Lights Ambassadors, University Honors Student Association, Deaf Pride, Best Buddies, Golden Key International Honor Society, Project on Civic Reflection, Ars Nova Guild, LaFe (Intervarsity), and University Honors Student Association. I enjoy working at open houses and letting new students know about the School of Visual and Performing Art and The Latino Resource Center. I enjoy working and communicating with Latinos, art students, and first-generation college students.

An academic goal I have is I would like to graduate with my Bachelor in Fine Arts with an Emphasis in Photography, and Honors from Northern. After, I would like to pursue my Masters degree. A career goal I have is to be an active fine artist showing my work in galleries and museums such as the MoMA in New York City and the Catherine Edelman Gallery in Chicago. I would also really enjoy teaching and I am considering obtaining my teaching certificate after obtaining my Bachelor degree to teach at a high school, or obtain a Master of Fine Art and teach at the college level.

Scholarships I have received include: the Dream Action NIU Scholarship, the University Honors Program Partial Tuition Waiver and the School of Art Tuition Scholarship Award for Incoming Freshmen.

Some of my hobbies are: photography, reading, watching short films as well as foreign and independent cinema, attending artist lectures, art shows and drawing.
