Please NOTE: All students - site leaders and trip participants, need to enroll in the HAB service-learning course in addition to applying in order to participate in HAB. See below for more course information.

Huskie Alternative Break Application

- For Participants: Applications will open in fall 2018.

If you are interested in participating in a NIU's spring alternative break, you must complete HAB trip participant application and enroll in the service-learning course NNGO 498 in the spring semester. This is a three 3 credit course that accopanies the trip. In addition, all participants have to be currently enrolled as full time undergraduate students, agree to follow HAB Policies, and pay $35 commitment trip deposit upon acceptation into the program.

- For Site Leaders: Applications for spring 2018 trips are currently open until all positions are filled.

If you are interested in HAB site leader position, you must complete HAB site leader application and enroll in the service-learning course NNGO 498: Leadership Basics for Alternative Breaks in the fall semester. This is a three 3 credit course that prepare you to lead a trip in the spring. You have an option to enroll in the spring course that accopanies the trip. In addition, all site leaders have to be currently enrolled as full time undergraduate students, agree to follow HAB Policies, and pay $35 commitment trip deposit upon acceptation into the program. You also need to be in good academic and judicial standing with the university.
