Bob Barton

Robert "Bob" Barton joined NIU's Division of Information Technology in December of 2023. At NIU, Bob will be working on maturing the Information Security Department, improving the security portfolio, and supporting the community at-large.

Previously, Bob was the Executive Director of Information Security and Policy at Lewis University, where he grew the security program from the ground up and left after 8 years.  Prior to Lewis, Bob was the Technical Team Lead and Lead Firewall Administrator for Chicago Trade Services at BMO Capital Markets.  While there, he managed a team of five people, seven firewalls and their supporting network connections in Buffalo Grove, Chicago, New Jersey and New York.

Bob holds a bachelor's degree from Purdue in System Analysis and Design and a master's degree from Lewis University in Information Security.
