An engaged partnership is a special kind of partnership. It’s an enhanced approach to collaboration, where all partners contribute and all partners benefit.

Many partnerships are transactional – a group provides a product or service in exchange for money or goods. In an engaged partnership, all partners contribute and all partners benefit.

Engagement elevates the relationships and outcomes of partnerships. It allows organizations to pursue a shared vision together to solve societal problems. It capitalizes on the expertise, resources and networks of all parties.

An engaged partnership takes more time, effort and relationship building, but it’s worth it. And the Division of Outreach, Engagement and Regional Development is here to help support, connect and build these partnerships between the community and NIU.
