Advertising Opportunities - Local businesses can promote their products and services to NIU students, faculty, staff and the public by advertising in the Northern Star student newspaper, on Huskie buses, and in athletic venues.

Cartography Services - NIU's Geography Department offers cartology (mapping) servicies to local cities, businesses and planning agencies.

Center for Governmental Studies - CGS provides research and facilitation services to local governments, businesses, and NGOs to inform sound decision-making, reinvigorate local economies and support workforce development.

College of Business Experiential Learning Center (ELC) - The ELC connects teams of high-achieving students with accomplished executives at companies throughout NIU's service region.  Over the course of a 16-week collaboration, NIU students apply their energies and talents to help solve cross-functional business issues.

Community, Economic and Workforce Development - NIU experts help create an attractive local investment environment by working with cities and organizations on a wide range of studies, including research on housing, industry clusters, health care, demographic trend analyses and many other factors influencing local investment decisions.

Conference Office

Conference Services - NIU Conference Services is one of the Chicago-area's top event planning agencies. Certified meeting planners and registration experts plan events, handle registration, make hotel arrangements, manage CEU credits and generally attend to the details.

DeKalb Advancement of Technology Authority (DATA) - a partnership between DeKalb County Government, NIU and private business that built, maintains and operates a fiber optic network thought DeKalb County for over 70 community anchor institutions.

IDEAL Industries Partnership - NIU students develop projects at two former IDEAL facilities in DeKalb. Students research markets, develop new products, and build business plans - eventually pitching their work to top IDEAL executives.

Intern/Employee Recruitment - NIU Career Services provides local employers with access to an online recruitment tool call Huskies Get Hired. Employers submit information on their needs and staff match them up with student applications on file. Employers can also work with Career Services in person or by phone.

Informatics and Survey Research - NIU informatics team members design, build, manage and mine databases of all sizes to support public organizations in their problem-solving and decision-making.

Jobs Plus - Many NIU students work part-time jobs in our community while going to school.  The Jobs Plus program works with employers to add professional development experiences to those jobs that help students develop important workplace skills such as leadership, management, teamwork and organization.

Space and Facility Rental - Local residents can rent all or part of many NIU facilities including Barsema Alumni and Visitors Center, the Recreation Center, Altgeld Hall, the Holmes Student Center, the Convocation Center, the Lorado Taft Field Campus in Oregon, and NIU regional centers in Naperville, Hoffman Estates and Rockford.

Springboard Business Services - Under the guidance of NIU faculty and staff, student analysts provide area companies with customized assessments about possible business expansion, competition, and international markets. Springboard analysts also assist with branding, social media presence, website development and other marketing needs.
